چکیده

results the means ± standard deviations of the averaged emg during the lateral and frontal wp exercises were 40.1 ± 19.1, and 23.7 ± 11.3 µv, respectively. those of the percent maximal voluntary contraction during the lateral and frontal wp exercises were 51.4 ± 29.7, and 31.3 ± 20.5, respectively. gmax activity during the lateral wp exercise was significantly higher than that during the frontal wp exercise conclusions the results of this study indicate that the lateral wp exercise is more suitable than the frontal wp exercise for strengthening the gmax on the weight-bearing side. objectives the purpose of this study was to quantify electromyographic (emg) activity of gmax in weight-bearing side during lateral and frontal wp exercise. patients and methods twelve healthy women (university students) participated in this study. the surface emg was used to quantify the activity of the gmax on the weight-bearing side during lateral and frontal wp exercises. the exercises were done with opposite leg. a paired t-test was used to examine the significance of differences in the gmax activity between the lateral and frontal wp exercises. background the lateral wall press (wp) exercise is one of the weight-bearing exercises used in gluteal muscle strengthening programs. however, little is known about the muscle activity level of the gluteus maximus (gmax) on the weight-bearing side during the lateral wp exercise. the primary actions of the gmax are hip extension and hip external rotation. in addition, the superior area of the gmax also functions as a hip abductor. we hypothesized that not only lateral but also frontal wp exercise might be suitable for gmax strengthening.

Electromyographic Activity of the Gluteus Maximus on the Weight-Bearing Side During Lateral and Frontal Wall Press Exercises

Background: The lateral wall press (WP) exercise is one of the weight-bearing exercises used in gluteal muscle strengthening programs. However, little is known about the muscle activity level of the gluteus maximus (Gmax) on the weight-bearing side during the lateral WP exercise. The primary actions of the Gmax are hip extension and hip external rotation. In addition, the superior area of the G...

Electromyographic analysis of the three subdivisions of gluteus medius during weight-bearing exercises

BACKGROUND Gluteus medius (GM) dysfunction is associated with many musculoskeletal disorders. Rehabilitation exercises aimed at strengthening GM appear to improve lower limb kinematics and reduce pain. However, there is a lack of evidence to identify which exercises best activate GM. In particular, as GM consists of three distinct subdivisions, it is unclear if GM activation is consistent acros...

the effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation

in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.

A literature review of studies evaluating gluteus maximus and gluteus medius activation during rehabilitation exercises.

Recently, clinicians have focused much attention on the importance of hip strength for the rehabilitation of not only patients with low back pain but also lower extremity pathology. Properly designing a rehabilitation program for the gluteal muscles requires careful consideration of biomechanical principles, such as length of the external moment arm, gravity, and subject positioning. Understand...

on translation of phatic communion and socio-cultural relationships between the characters of the novels

phatic communion is a cultural concept which differs across cultures. according to hofstede (2001), the u.s. tends to have individualistic culture; however, asian countries tend to have collectivistic cultures. these cultures view phatic communion differently. in individualistic cultures like u.s., phatic communion reflects speakers’ socio-cultural relationships in conversations. to see whether...

Electromyographic preactivation pattern of the gluteus medius during weight-bearing functional tasks in women with and without anterior knee pain.

BACKGROUND Proximal factors have been proposed to influence the biomechanics of the patellofemoral joint. A delayed or diminished gluteus medius (GM) activation, before the foot contact on the ground during functional activities could lead to excessive femur adduction and internal rotation and be associated with anterior knee pain (AKP). There are few studies on this topic and the results were ...
